Casey Abrams Is Safe! American Idol - March 24 2011

[Wednesday Night Post]

On tonight's show the top 11 contestants pick out songs from Motown. In past seasons this has always proven to be a defining week for contestants. Some of the most soulful music ever came from Motown Records, therefore they have big shoes to fill (which they most likely won't). This week the remaining 11 contestants ranging in age from 16 to 26 pretty much all claim to have 'grew up listening to Motown music'. Right, I guess we'll see who has the soul and who doesn't.

After last weeks elimination of Karen there was pressure on Haley and Naima to 'bring it' in their performances tonight. Below are the list of songs performed tonight:

Overview- Paul McDonald is my favorite guy, he most likely won't win but I for see a record deal in his future. He will pull a Daughtry & come out the underdog and do well. [I HOPE!] Lauren Alaina is very entertaining to watch & listen to. She has that star quality, little mini Carrie Underwood if you ask me. [Although no one tops my girl Carrie, Lauren is following in her footsteps.] Pia, Pia, Pia, I like you & you have an amazing voice... I'm dying to hear something more upbeat... bring it girl. Casey Abrams is my second favorite guy, he can sing! Always gives a great performance and I think he'll make top 5 if America does this right. All the rest of you really don't WOW me... step it up! Over all this season is one of the best yet. LOVE IT!

[Thursday Night Update]

American Idol judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson opted to use the "Judges' Save" on last nights American Idol. Although finalist Casey Abrams received the least amount of votes he was saved from elimination and will continue in the competition! [HaleyReinhart needed to go.]

How it will work from here is next week the two contestants with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. The judges get only one 'save' the entire season, and last night used it on Casey, therefore they cannot save anyone else the rest of the season. Ryan made a special announcement at the end of the show saying that all 11 finalist will tour this summer, rather than the usual ten, because of the judges act to save Casey.

Next week is 80's week!! I love the 80's so this shall be fun.
